Napa Wine Tasting for Foodies: 3 Must-Try Spots

You'll love these Napa food and wine gems.

Napa Wine Tasting for Foodies

It’s a well known fact that food and wine go hand in hand.

Oysters and Champagne.

Steak and Cabernet.

Popcorn and Chardonnay.

So, why shouldn’t your Napa wine tasting weekend be focused on food as well? There are lots of great locations that offer food pairings with your wine tastings. Many wineries now have on-site chefs and offer spectacular table service.

Here are three places in Napa that are not to be missed if you’re a foodie at heart:

St. Supéry

St. Supéry is located in a modern building next to a vintage farmhouse. Their grounds are meant to be explored and the patio is perfect for soaking up the sunshine in the warmer months. They even have a live cork tree on their property. The downstairs features an expansive tasting room, with plenty of room to spread out at the bar. A sample of their Sauvignon Blanc will have you hooked with its bright, herbal acidity, smooth finish, and stony minerality.

But, the tasting experience doesn’t end with their amazing wines.

Be sure to make time for The Chef’s Table at St. Supéry – A 90-minute journey of the most fantastic food and wine pairings that you will encounter in Napa Valley.

You’ll be led to your private tasting area and introduced to the Estate Chef who will guide you through a customized four-course menu produced with ingredients from their estate culinary garden and Dollarhide Ranch. Seared Scallops with Truffles, Short Rib Ravioli, and Kurobuta Pork Tenderloin are just a few of the dishes that you may be presented with when you visit.  The spectacular wine, personalized attention, and amazing menu make the $125-per-person price tag well worth it. This is an experience not to be missed.

B Cellars

Situated amongst the vines in Napa Valley is B Cellars. You’ll be greeted at their Hospitality House with an offering of fresh-fruit-infused water. Then you'll be led on a tour of their spectacular (and spotless) wine caves, culinary gardens, and production facilities, with a glass of wine in hand.

B Cellars’ Blend 23, which is comprised of Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Viognier, is not to be missed. Nor is their Oakville Trek experience – a 90-minute culinary pairing designed by their on-site Chef that complements their Flagship blended and Limited Production wines. You will be spoiled with their seasonal “B-Bites” which could include their Wild Mushroom Arancini, Flatbread with Smoked Bacon, Grilled Apple and Parmesan Cream, or Dungeness Crab Salad with Espelette Pepper. ($60 per person)

CIA at Copia

The CIA at Copia, in downtown Napa, just recently opened and offers daily food and wine classes/demonstrations, a beautiful retail store, and even dining at their on-site restaurant.

Their Bubbles for Every Occasion class will lead you through a blind tasting of five sparking wines – Some being bargain bottles, others being Prosecco, and others that are authentic French Champagne. You’re guaranteed to take away some key tips and tricks, and you may even discover a new wine that you love.

Classes at the CIA at Copia range from wine pairing basics, to regional wines, to cooking classes focused on anything from making fresh cheese to mastering sourdough. Be sure to check out their full class listing here. It’s a great way to break up a day of wine tasting, and you’re sure to find a class focused on something that you’d love to learn more about.

I remember asking my mom what her favorite date with my dad was... She said hands-down it was their time in Napa! I wonder if they tried any of these places
